AL stops its activities in Galachipa

Patuakhali district unit AL has suspended all party activities in Galachipa for next one month to avoid a factional feud there. District AL unit took this decision at a meeting held at the party office on Tuesday night with Ismail Hossain, vice president of the unit in the chair. Sources said, Galachipa AL is now divided into two separate factions, one led by lawmaker Golam Mowla Roni and the other by upazila unit AL president also upazila parishad chairman Harun-or-Rashid. Both the factions are now carrying out party activities separately. On Monday night, the faction led by Harun-or-Rashid declared lawmaker Golam Mawla Roni 'unwanted' in Galachipa for his alleged involvement in 'anti-party activities'. The same day, in a separate meeting the Golam Mawla faction 'dismissed' Harun-or-Rashid from his post for alleged indiscipline. They also selected Rezaul Kaim, vice president of Galachipa unit AL as acting president.
