Why now?
A Dhaka court has recently issued a warrant to arrest former Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil on charges of tax evasion. This came only nine days after he was dropped from the post of chairman of the parliamentary standing committee of the same party (for whatever reason).
My question is very simple: Where were these charges while he was in the leadership of Awami League? The next logical question, therefore, is: Does it not seem fitting that other leaders too (of any party) be examined also, on such matters? Or are such charges being kept aside to be used whenever needed?
