Sad death of 2 principals

The principal of Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College in Nilpahamari district died after falling from a four-storey under-construction building of the institution while the principal of Saidpur Adorsha Girls' School and College committed suicide on Friday. Lt Col Moniruzzaman, 50, principal of Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College, slipped to the ground from the top floor of under-construction four-storey building 'Natun Kuri' when he was supervising its work at about 12:30am on Friday, said Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain. He was hurriedly taken to the Combined Military Hospital at Saidpur where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The principal's death cast a pall of gloom in the area as he was very popular with the students, teachers and guardians for his outstanding success in making Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College as one of the best institutions in Rajshahi division. An unnatural death case was registered with Saidpur Police Station the same day. The principal of Saidpur Adorsha Girls' School and College, Touhafa Begum, 49, committed suicide by hanging herself with her scarf from the ceiling fan at her room on Friday morning. Sources said she had disagreement with a few members of the managing committee of the institution as problem over some official papers could not be solved. She was serving as the principal with good reputation from the beginning of the institution, locals said. "Primary investigation shows it to be a suicide. An unnatural death case has been lodged with Saidpur Police Station in this connection," Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain said.
