Body of baby girl recovered raising death toll to 4

Body of a 14-month-old baby girl, who went missing in a trawler capsize in Gulshakhali river near Morichbunia village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night, was recovered Sunday raising death toll in the mishap to four. The baby girl, Sabiha, was daughter of Sentu Mia of Padma village under Patharghata upazila in Barguna district. Divers of fire service salvaged the wooden trawler on Saturday late night and locals found the body of the baby girl in the trawler yesterday morning. Locals said a reserved trawler carrying around 70 people from Barguna district overturned and sank after dusk when it was sailing back from Patuakhali. Besides Sabiha, locals so far recovered bodies of Rezia Begum, 70, wife of Din Ali Boyatee of Padma village, and Rabbi, 4, son of Golam Mostafa of the village at night from the spot while two-year-old Rakib, son of Motleb later died at Patuakhali General Hospital. They also rescued seven missing passengers and sent them to Patuakhali hospital. Amena, Rahat, Motaleb, Shahana and Rakhi are still undergoing treatment. The district administration abandoned the rescue operation conducted by a 13-member team at about 2 am on Saturday night after searching the river and the boat. Villagers later recovered the body of baby child Sabiha from the trawler.
