BCL cadres stab RU student

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) cadres severly stabbed a student at Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday as he protested a remark by a BCL cadre. Sheikh Sohel Ahmed, a third year student of management department of the university, was admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) after first aid at the university medical centre. He was stabbed in his head and neck. Sources said, BCL activist Nayan, also a second year student of management department, made an indecent remark at Sohel, in front of Rabindra Arts Building, at around 1pm. As Sohel protested it, Nayan along with a few BCL activists severally hit him with iron rods and stabbed him leaving him severely injured, sources said. Sohel later said, BCL cadres Jewel, a second year student of mass communication and journalism department, Belal Hossain, a second year student of anthropology department and Nazmul, Shourav and Zahid led by Nayan launched the attack. Contacted, Nayan said Sohel attacked him first over a trifling matter.
