Top ranking leaders of BNP Magura district and upazila units have been summoned to Dhaka amid mounting intra-party feud in the district unit. Party's Joint Secretary General Selima Rahman asked them to attend a meeting at the party's Nayapaltan office in the capital at 11:00am today, District unit sources said. Another Joint Secretary General Barkatullah Bulu, Office Secretary Rizvi Ahmed and party's Khulna divisional coordinator Shamsu-zzaman Dudu are scheduled to attend the meeting, sources said. Contacted, Magura district unit BNP's Joint Convener advocate Mokaddes Hossain, also the leader of a faction, said, “We will urge our central leaders to remove Kabir Murad from the post of district convener for his anti-party activities”. Internal feud in BNP Magura district unit surfaced after formation of the convening committee with Kabir Murad as convener in June this year. It has taken a serious turn following expulsion of Mohammadpur upazila BNP Joint converner Akhteru-zzaman and issuance of show cause notices on two joint conveners of Sreepur upazila unit --- Mustafa and Sanat Kumar--by district Convener Kabir Murad on November 1 and 2 for their alleged involvement anti-party activities. Akhter, Mustafa and Sanat belong to the faction led by district unit Joint Convener Mokaddes Hossain. Earlier, on October 10, a faction of Mohammadpur upazila BNP led by Akhteruzzaman and Matiur Rahman accused Kabir Murad of forming “pocket committees” at upazila and union levels and demanded his removal from the post of district convener. On October 24, Mokaddes faction declared Kabir Murad 'unwanted' in the district. The declaration came from an extended meeting of the faction held at district BNP office with advocate Mokaddes Hossain in the chair.
