Justice and truth
I am happy with you if you are happy as a Bangladeshi citizen that has justice has been done in Bangladesh.
But I do not agree with you if you are happy just because Sheikh Mujib's killers are going to be hanged or punished.
I do not believe in being enthusiastic about Zia, Mujib, History or Traditions. I never did and it got stronger since I came here. For me the only important thing is if my country is going on the right track or not.
We need fundamental change in our public attitude towards leaders and ex-leaders whoever they may be.
First of all we need 50 percent reduction of talks about the past. Once we do this we will have a neutral unbiased public opinion when we determine whether our leaders are really eligible as leaders in terms of their Academic Knowledge/ Experience.
I would not add "honesty" in the list of criteria as it does not make sense. It is just an illusion, you can never tell whether somebody is honest because his father or husband was honest.
Until we can remove our inherent attitude towards leadership, which we traditionally gain from childhood fairy tales / stories "razar chele raza hobe", there is no hope for the future.
You have to see how it works in Europe or the USA because they taught us democracy and we have to follow their path. We have to wake up.
