(November 26, 2009) This would be a disgrace for the nation, once more, if the Jamaat is allowed to observe 'these days'. We already disgraced our freedom by letting the Jamaat get into our parliament and fly our flag on their motor vehicles.
M. Rashid A real freedom fighter will be ashamed to receive anything from this party which was, and still is, known for its heinous activities during and after 1971.
Asad Bulbul It's a very weak move by the scared Jamaat, which wants to avoid trial. The valiant and vigilant people of Bangladesh will never let it happen.
Ranjit Podder Are they trying to make fun with the nation? Stop them!
Observer The Jamaat has probably seen the writings on the wall. With Pakistan fighting for its survival, the Jamaat finally realized that religion has not worked as the uniting force for that state as they had hoped. I do not think this belated change is enough for us to forget and forgive the cold blooded killings that had been committed by them.
DR We do not know how many strange things we will see in the future!
Gotham What an irony of fate! Alleged war criminals will honour War Heroes. This is a trick to gain political mileage. The Jamaat as a party, after what it did in 1971, could exist only through sponsorship of the beneficiaries of Bangabandhu killing in 1975. Through politics of killing and anarchy the fanatic fundamentalists firmly established organised terrorism in Bangladesh. We were driven away from the liberation war ideals. Now for strategic reasons, the Jamaat may be hatching a new conspiracy.
Saleque Sufi This radical change is an alarm for the nation as these people are like this-- when they face danger they squeeze themselves like amoeba and when they get the chance, they can do any harm to the people. This trend is very visible in case of one national daily also, which was supporting war criminals, but now posing as the leader of the liberation war.
Critic I urge the people not to trust these Jamaat elements. They are liars and murderers. It is a mockery of our valiant freedom fighters by the razakars!
Shymyabadi This is the real face of the Jamaat.
Habibul Bari Shozib It will be difficult for Bangladesh to be taken seriously until the population as a whole rejects and rebukes the terrorists and miscreants. Fortunately, I see that day coming soon as most people recognize the damage that such terrorists are doing to their country and their religion.

Rainforests ravaged (November 25, 2009) This is a crime against humanity. The perpetrators must be punished for ravaging our invaluable forests. It must be immediately brought to the notice of the environment ministry and public interest litigation can be initiated to stop logging.
Abdullah Al Faruque Does anyone care? If this happened in any sensible or civilised democracy then one would expect the head of the state to make an important statement, and the minister would resign. The earth is dying and we are cleaning off what precious bits are left.
Quais Our govt is responsible for any bad thing happening in our country. They control the police, Rab and the army and they have MPs in that area and the govt has forest officers too. What are those people doing there? They are killing our future and theirs too.
Baz Either the forest officers are involved, or they are indulgent, or they do not receive cooperation from the police administration. Whatever it is, only political good-will can protect the forests and thus save us all.
Ranjit Podder I do not want to use the word patriotism. I would rather say I love my country. And I wonder why so many of us do not.
Shah Sazzad Plunderers and grabbers should be cross-fired to save the nation.
