English in schools
The Daily Star and the mobile phone company Aktel have taken programme entitled 'English in Schools' for popularising the English language among the students of secondary schools at the district and upazila levels. I welcome this great endeavour enthusiastically.
Thus, The Daily Star and Aktel have jointly initiated the milestone from the basic levels. But the state of learning the English language in the rural areas is poorer than that of towns and cities. Hence it is expected that the programme will focus on village schools.
