FF murdered in Jessore

A freedom fighter (FF), who was injured by his rivals at Saziali village in Sadar upazila recently night, died at Jessore General Hospital on Sunday. Victim Siddik Ahmed, 50, was a valiant freedom fighter and local Awami League leader. Police said, there was a longstanding dispute between Siddik and his co-villagers Osman and Madhu over the ownership of a water body. An altercation ensued when Osman and Madhu, along with their musclemen equipped with sharp weapons went to net fish at the water body at night. As Siddik and his followers tried to resist them, the musclemen attacked them leaving Siddik and his guard Murad badly injured. The injured were rushed to Jessore Sadar Hospital where Siddik succumbed to his injuries Sunday morning. Later, AL leaders and activists staged demonstration and brought out a procession with the coffin of Siddik in the town, demanding immediate arrest of the killers.
