Notebooks seized in Khulna, sellers fined

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday seized guide and notebooks worth Tk 15 lakh in the city. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-6 raided the storerooms of Agrani Transport Agency at Dak Bungalow Road under Khulna Sadar Police Station and Sundarban Courier Service at Shibbari Road under Sonadanga Police Station and seized the guide and notebooks of classes two to eight from the two places. Lt Commander Abu Shoiab, who led the drives, said these guide and notebooks, banned for sale, were brought to Khulna from Dhaka on different days from December 19 to December 23 by proprietors of Noor Library, Azizia Library, Pathak Library and Famous Library of KD Ghose Road under Khulna Sadar Police Station. Executive Magistrate Zillur Rahman, who was present during the drives, said a sum of Tk 75,000 was realised as fine from the bookshop owners. No one was arrested.
