River Madhumoti

The dead Madhumoti has become a great worry of Gopalganj people, as it has never been dredged properly. Recently the government authorities have decided to re-excavate the river and beautify the surrounding areas. Many illegal land grabbers from the city's Moulvipara area, the Pouro market and encroachers from the two sides of the river have been evicted, but still no development work has started. The river is the soul of the city and its people for many reasons including daily use, cultivation etc. The authorities should not waste any more time. The people of Gopalganj demand quick start of excavation of the Madhumoti river.
