JCD men fight at DU
Trade gunshots; rebels stab central president; 24 others hurt; strike called (January 19, 2010) They are nothing but a menace to society. The country and the community would be better off without such people.
Syed Sobhan As a citizen of Bangladesh, I only want to say that after watching this anarchy any honest young human, who wants to work for his nation, will be disappointed as I am now. My question is why they s are destroying genuine students' lives who come to DU for study, not to engage in terrorism.
Mahamudul Kabir Will there ever be an end to this murderous hooliganism? When will our politicians do away with the so-called student wings of their parties? Come down heavily on the criminals and mete out the punishment they deserve.
Ataur Rahman This is an example of why student politics should be banned in Bangladesh for five years, at least. And why the caretaker government should be reinstated. I feel puzzled to think about the present state of student politics. For the sake of security on the campus, student politics needs to be banned immediately.
Mohammad Rahman Is it impossible to find out the criminals and give them exemplary punishment? Why this sort of incidents should happen at the highest seat of learning? They are engaged in organised crimes and it is time the government banned student politics on the campus. The nation has much to gain by doing so. Let us remember that in an independent country we need no student politics.
TH So, the extortionists are fighting among themselves!
Nazmul National leaders of Bangladesh politics, who are the patrons and/or guardians of those student leaders and activists are seen in the picture and beyond. They should come out open and talk about their part! Hope they would not tell us the pictures are tailored, sharp weapons holders are not students, police officers were leading the chaos and so on. May Allah bless Bangladeshi politicians!!
Saleh-Rahim Ahmed What else police needs to catch the criminals, they have pictures with weapons, regardless of types. They should be going with those pictures to DU and arrest those criminals.
Sawgat Chowdhury All student political fronts and organisations should be banned in all educational institutions. The question is who will bell the cat?
Salah As a civil society we should not be tolerating this kind of violence in any place, let alone our university campuses. The perpetrators of this violence should be arrested and prosecuted.
DR What did the police do on the DU campus? They didn't take any action against those lawbreakers. Cadres wield pistol, weapons and police escort them to ignite violence and they act like helpless spectators.
Nasirullah Mridha, USA Ban student politics and punish the armed cadres. Brandishing of any kind of firearms and sharp weapons in a public place must result in a long prison term or even death sentence.
SNH Previously, the Bangladesh Chhatra League created a war-like situation in the educational institutions. Now the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. The government has not taken any serious step to stop violence in the educational institutions. It is failing to do its basic duty.
Mobaidul Huq It is very sad. When BCL had internal clashes, the PM disowned the BCL and AL leaders issued a serious warning to it. Cops were ordered to take action, irrespective of political affiliations. What are we watching now? The BNP is not taking action to control the JCD, rather Mr. Delwar is blaming the government!
Gesmin Chy Student politics must be banned for the sake of national security and peace in all educational institutions.
Russell Oh please stop this evil propaganda against the brightest sons of our beloved Motherland!!! I know these images look suspiciously disturbing to the naked eye but their true interpretation is going to leave you gasping! The handsome(?) man in red vest is actually a much sought after (by foreign universities!) brilliant student of Botany with his lab equipment! He is out to cut a plant for experiment! The man with his back towards the camera, wearing blue hooded sweatshirt is an advanced practitioner of Wu Shu (very acrobatic form of Martial Art )! Everything has a perfectly rational explanation!
Kattja Students who are supposed to be carrying books are carrying lethal weapons in broad daylight, while policemen are standing nearby!
