Ministers' performance
The DS carried a news report on the performance of ministers. I think it is good to have some routine and regular reporting on half yearly basis. A group of different media experts can be pulled together for the purpose. Media's perception should cover the performance of the ministers and members of the parliament, both treasury and opposition. The only aspect I would ask for inclusion is popular perception, positive or negative, in the media study report.
I think the PM is definitely considering the issue of cabinet reshuffle in light of public perception and on the basis of any negative news about moral decline of the ministers, I am sorry to note that the media talks about this with self-censorship and sketchy picture. If I am asked to comment on the performance of the ministers, I would definitely put my concern about the performance of the following ministers or state ministers;
a. The home and the law ministries are becoming rhetorical by changing their time line of action and almost behaving like robot on some important national issues. The commerce minister is suffering from mixed attention and talking cluelessly on market situation The food minister has emptied his idea to address the problem of impending food supply and procurement problems. Nevertheless, he has announced introduction of a short lived ration system for the poorest of the poor which might be disturbed by party interest or poor management. The communications minister is becoming a full bureaucrat. He has overplayed with his target of development without being sure about the finance.
b. In my judgment the agriculture, education and the foreign ministers are on the right track, following proactive, productive and reformative measures to improve their performance. They deserve out thanks and encouragement with a constructive critical look.
c. The PM is pursuing a positive intent for achieving her election pledge. She looks pro-people. She is not getting any cooperation or support from the opposition leader and her party except lip service. The opposition leader could easily mention briefly in her PR message how and in which areas she wants to cooperate and on what conditions (!!)
I think the PM should focus on the impeding reform programmes using parliament.
