The Special Judge Court in Pabna rejected the bail petition of ex-BNP lawmaker of Pabna-3 constituency Anwarul Islam and his son Monwarul Islam Shafi, now in prison on charge of misappropriating government CI (corrugated iron) sheets, court sources said. Judge Miraj Uddin fixed November 28 for taking evidence in this case. Anwarul Islam and his son Monwarul Islam Shafi submitted their bail petition to Pabna District Judge's Court on November 15. But the court rejected their bail petition and ordered sending them to jail. Later the case was shifted to the Special Judge's Court. The joint forces seized 11 CI sheets of government relief fund from the poultry farm owned by Monwarul Islam Shafi near his residence in Chatmohar upazila under the district on February 17. Later Chatmohar police filed a case against Anwarul Islam and Monwarul Islam Shafi. The ex-MP and his son had earlier taken bail from the High Court, court sources said. But the case was taken under the emergency power rules and the court rejected their bail petition.
