Cancellation of FFs' Eid reunion slated
Freedom fighters here criticised the district administration for cancelling their scheduled Eid-reunion yesterday.
Local unit of Ekatturer Chetonai Muktijoddha Sangram Parishad organised the Eid-reunion function.
At a press conference, Commander Shafiqul Islam Khoka, said two former army chiefs and all sector commanders during the Liberation War and prominent writer-journalists were scheduled to attend the function.
All on a sudden, the district administration, in a letter issued on Tuesday, cancelled the programme saying all kinds of meeting, demonstration and discussion are banned during emergency period.
Several prominent freedom fighters here met the Deputy Commissioner (DC) at his office on November 6 and sought permission. The DC gave them the permission verbally.
When contacted, the DC said the district administration cancelled the programme on receipt of a report of the intelligence department.
