College teacher murdered in Sylhet

A senior teacher of Sylhet Government Mohila college was stabbed to death by a gang of criminals in the city yesterday afternoon. Witnesses said a gang of three intercepted Harun-ur-Rashid, 45, associate professor of philosophy department, near Gourgovinda tila while he was returning to his residence from the college at around 4:00pm. The gang stabbed him in the chest and abdomen and left the scene on a motorbike. Locals rushed Prof Harun to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Police could not unearth the clue to the murder as of filing of this report at 7:00pm yesterday. After autopsy, Harun's body will be sent to his village home at Saturia in Manikganj, police added.
