Schoolgirl abducted in broad daylight
Another untraced for 29 days
A schoolgirl was abducted in Satkhira yesterday while another abducted in Meherpur could not be rescued 29 days into the incident.
Our Correspondent in Satkhira reports: A teenage schoolgirl was abducted by a gang in broad daylight yesterday.
Victim Kalyani Ghosh, 15, is daughter of Uttam Kumar Ghosh of village Tulshidanga in Kalaroa upazila. She is a student of class ten at Kalaroa Pilot High School.
Quoting locals police said a gang led by Nasim, son of Azibar Sardar of the same village, used to tease Kalyani on her way to school regularly.
Yesterday morning, while she was going to school, Nasim and his accomplices abducted the girl and took her to an unknown place by a private car.
Victim's father Uttam Kumar Ghosh filed a case with Kalaroa police accusing Nasim and four others.
Contacted, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalaroa PS Enamul Haque said, they are trying to rescue the girl and arrest the culprits.
Our Correspondent in Kushtia reports: Police failed to rescue schoolgirl Shakila who was abducted from Gangni in Meherpur 29 days ago.
On Monday the family members blamed police for inaction at a press conference held at Gangni upazila press club.
They alleged that police did not arrest any of the culprits despite filing case against them soon after the incident.
Sources said, Shakila Khatun, 14, daughter of Raisul Islam of Jorapukuria was abducted by one Aiytal alias Nayan. She was a student of class ten at Jorapukuria High School.
According to police, Nayan, son of Joulush Ali of the same village and his accomplices intercepted the girl when she was returning home from school at about 3:30 pm on February 24. The gang picked up the girl on a microbus and took her to an unknown place.
Bhutto, elder brother of the girl, filed a GD with Gangni police station. In the written statement read out at the press conference, the family alleged that police did not take necessary steps to rescue the girl.
