Remand hearing postponed

A Rajshahi court yesterday postponed the hearing on police prayers for remand of three top local leaders of Jamaat and Chhatra Shibir following their petition for changing the court. Police on March 18 sought 10-day remand of Rajshahi city Jamaat ameer Ataur Rahman and general secretary Abul Kalam Azad and eight-day remand of Rajshahi University (RU) Habibur Rahman Hall unit Shibir president Reazul Islam. As the hearing began in presence of the accused, lawyers of the accused submitted a prayer for changing court under Section 528 on the plea that they may not get justice at the court. Earlier, police submitted the remand prayer for quizzing them at the taskforce interrogation cell (TFIC) in Dhaka in connection with the police assault case filed over the February 9 violence on RU campus.
