Submarine cable sabotage
The sabotage to submarine cables, reported in The Daily Star, is very regrettable and, as you pointed out, could cause great harm to the commercial interests of Bangladesh. I would like to add that this practice is also highly dangerous.
Submarine cables generally use undersea amplifiers, which are powered from the shore stations with high-voltage direct current. The power units have safety devices to shut them down in the event of an interruption, but the cable can still store a lethal electrical charge which could kill, or severely injure, anyone foolish enough to cut the cable without taking proper precautions.
Submarine cable maintenance is a specialist subject and anyone who is untrained interferes with them at their peril.
