Arrest warrant against 2 BNP leaders
A Moulvibazar court on Sunday issued arrest warrants against Moulvibazar Sadar upazila BNP President Faruk Ahmed and General Secretary Ayas Ahmed and passed an order to attach their moveable properties in an extortion case.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Modhusudan Roy said they seized two single bedsteads, a dining table, a sofa set and a clotheshorse from the house of Ayas Ahmed, who is also a ward commissioner of Moulvibazar Pourasava on Monday.
Police went to the village home and father-in-law's home of upazila BNP President Faruk Ahmed, but did not seize anything as there was nothing under single ownership of Faruk Ahmed, said Munsi Anisur Rahman, another SI of Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station.
The plaintiff of the case, Ashraf Ahmed of Nazirabad village under Sadar upazila, said following the two BNP leaders' demand for Tk 20 lakh during supply of sand under a contract, he had to pay Tk five lakh to Faruk and Tk six lakh to Ayas.
