BSF returns body in Satkhira
One shot in Thakurgaon
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Bangladeshi farmer on Daneshpur border in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon yesterday morning.
The body of a Bangladeshi cattle trader, shot dead by BSF on November 26 near Taluigachha border in Satkhira Sadar upazila, was returned on Sunday night while BSF and BDR traded gunfire on Rudrapur border in Sharsha upazila in Jessore district.
The body of Rafiqul Islam, killed by BSF at Amudia, a bordering village in Swarupnagar thana under 24 Parganas district of West Bengal opposite to Taluigachha border in Sadar upazila, was handed over to BDR authorities following a company-level flag meeting between the two border forces on December 2 night, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
BSF men of Amudia camp in Swarupnagar opened fire on Rafiqul Islam, 38, of village Hawalkhali in Sadar upazila, some 500 yards from the zero point, inside the Indian territory at about 4:30am on November 26 when the victim along with others was returning with cattle from India to Bangladesh territory.
Meanwhile, the BSF of Tentulia camp in Swarupnagar police station under North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal opposite to Rudrapur border in Sharsha upazila fired two bullets targeting the BDR of Rudrapur camp at about 3:30am on Sunday, forcing the BDR to retaliate with 11 bullets.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds: A Bangladeshi farmer was bullet-hit by Border Security Force (BSF) of India on Daneshpur border under Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon yesterday morning, BDR sources said.
Md Saidur Ali, 45, of village Ronashia under Pirganj upazila, appeared near a border pillar when BSF fired two bullets, leaving him injured, officials of 14 Rifles Battalion of Dinajpur quoted the villagers as saying.
