Six killed in road accidents

At least six people were killed in separate road accidents in Sirajganj, Mymensingh and Chuadanga yesterday. A correspondent from Sirajganj reports: Three people were killed in a road accident in Kashemmore area under Kamarkhand upazila in the district yesterday. The victims were identified as driver Shafiqul Islam, 35, of Sultanpara village of Bogra district, his helper Zillur Rahman, 26, and an unidentified fish trader aged about 40. Police said the accident occurred when a fish feed-laden truck hit hard another truck carrying poultry feed from behind in early hours of yesterday near Kasemmore area, leaving the three dead on the spot. Our correspondent from Mymensingh adds: Two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bharaduba in Bhaluka upazila yesterday. The victims were identified as Nurul Islam, 45, of village Taramiadi in Bhaluka and Sharif, 35, of village Kahalgoan in Phulbaria upazila. Police said the accident took place when a Netrakona-bound passenger bus from Dhaka hit a Bhaluka-bound motorcycle in which the victims were riding , killing them on the spot and injuring one at around 12:00 noon. Critically injured Based, 30, was admitted at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). Police seized the bus but its driver managed to escape. The bodies were sent to MMCH morgue for autopsy. UNB from Chuadanga says: an old man identified as Hazrat alias Hazo, 80, of Shibpur village in Alamdanga upazila was killed as a bus hit him while he was standing on a roadside on Chuadanga-Meherpur road at Gokulkhali in Sadar upazila at about 11:00am. Angered by the accident, local people blocked the road disrupting traffic movement for one hour. Later, police brought the situation under the control.
