People pay last respects to Badal Rahman

People from all walks of life paid their last respects to Badal Rahman, an eminent film director, who passed away on Friday morning due to a cardiac arrest. Hundreds of people thronged the Central Shaheed Minar in the city when his body was kept there yesterday. Leaders of socio-political organisations, cultural activists, economists, teachers, students and other professionals placed wreaths on his coffin. Information Minister Abdul Kalam Azad, cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor MP, Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor Harun-or-Rashid and actress Tarana Halim, among others, paid their last respects to the veteran filmmaker. In separate statements, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, Joybangla Sangskritik Oikyajote and Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh expressed deep shock at the death of Badal Rahman.
