Turn off air conditioners in evening
DMP urges city dwellers
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged the city dwellers to turn air conditioners off in the evening in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity so that the people can watch World Cup football matches.
DMP Commissioner AKM Shahidul Hoque made the appeal yesterday in line with the prime minister's recent call to keep air conditioners switched off until 11:00pm daily in order to reduce power outages, said a press release.
On Saturday night, football fans vandalised several vehicles and blocked roads as power outages prevented them from watching World Cup matches.
The commissioner also warned that the police will take tough action against any persons responsible for such unlawful acts.
