Work unitedly to root out militancy: Tuku

State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku has said Jamaat-Shibir has been trying to create unstable situation by triggering and assisting religious militancy when the government has started trial process of the war criminals. They have been financing and providing shelters and assistances to religious militants and the government with the assistances of the people from all walks in the society will definitely resist their devil designs to root out militancy once for all, he said. He was addressing a discussion on `Roles of imams in resisting militancy and terrorism for maintaining peace and order in the country' organised by Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh (IFB), Rangpur on Friday as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur BM Enamul Haque chaired the meeting that was held at Rangpur Town Hall auditorium. Secretary of the IFB Rezaul Karim, Board of Governors of IFB and chairman of Islami Oikya Jote Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, joint convener of Rangpur Awami League Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, SP Saleh Mohammad Tanveer, also spoke. In his speech, Tuku said the BNP-Jamaat Jote government patronised and created the Islami religious militancy in the country and presently they are trying to destabilise the country by triggering militancy. They are engaged to hampering the ongoing developments of the present government as they could not come to power and the people will definitely resist them as the devil forces want to turn Bangladesh into situations like in Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said. The Jamaat-Shibir has been misleading the people in the name of preaching Islam and the `religious traders' are dishonouring and defaming the innocent womenfolk to make Bangladesh an inactive state though triggering militancy, he said. "But the people will never forgive them and definitely resist and properly try them by foiling their all devil bids to turn Bangladesh into religious militancy strongholds," Tuku said.
