Six held for anomaly in voter listing
Six people including two enumerators were handed over to police at 2:00pm yesterday from Godaipur voter registration centre under Paikgachha upazila in Khulna district.
The arrestees are enumerators Tapati Rani Halder and Shah Jamal Lipton, Rezaul Gazi, Habibullah Gazi, Noor Mohammod and Alauddin Sarder.
Officials on duty in the voter registration centre suspected that Alauddin, Rezaul, Noor Mohammod and Habibullah were trying to enrol their names with photograph without attaining the age limit with the help of enumerators Tapati Rani Halder and Shah Jamal Lipton.
When asked, Paikgachha upazila Election Officer Golam Mostafa, however, said he could not lodge any formal complaint with Paikgachha Police Station without verifying birth registration certificates of the four people.
