Sust convocation today
The second convocation of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) will be held here today.
The convocation ceremony will begin at 11 am.
President Prof Iajuddin Ahmed will attend the inaugural function as chief guest. Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof M Aminul Islam will deliver the welcome address and founding VC of the university Prof Sadruddin Ahmed Chowdhury will address as convocation speaker.
About 2,943 former students of the university are expected to take part in the convocation ceremony.
Earlier, the VC said 14 meritorious students will receive President's Gold Medal while 52 others will get Vice-Chancellor's Award. Two persons will be conferred with PhD degre, one with AMD and 12 with M Phil degree.
An amount of Tk 50 lakh has been earmarked for the purpose. A major portion of the allocation came from the University Grants Commission (UGC) while the rest amount was collected from own fund of the university, the VC said.
The first convocation of the university was held n 1998.
