1 dies in Jhenidah AL feud
One person was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Bhagabanpur village in Moheshpur upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ekramul, 45, son of Mohiuddin of Kushumpur village under the upazila.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Mamun-or-Rashid of Moheshpur Police Station said AL union leader of Swaruppur village Majnu Master locked into an altercation with another AL leader Altaf Hossain of Kushumpur over possession of a piece of land in the area.
The clash erupted when Majnu's men started to cut down trees on the land following the altercation and Altaf's men tried to resist them. Both the factions used rods, sticks and sharp weapons during the clash.
Of the injured three had been reported in critical condition. They were rushed to Jessore Hospital and later shifted to Khulna as their condition deteriorated. Ekramul succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna.
The other injured are Azi, 25, Jahabox, 40, and Nur Mohammad, 40, of Majnu group and Lambu, 30, Kalu, 22, Ekramul, 45, Zamir, 25, Ohidul, 40, Mohidul, 29, Feroz, 25, Nazmul, 24 and Jashim of Altaf group.
