JSD President Hasanul Huq Inu has urged Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia to apologise first for patronising loot, corruption, killers and militants before calling hartal. “I wonder how she called a hartal on the issue of power crisis. You first seek apology for the Khamba episode (the erection of useless electricity poles) and then go for hartal,” he said, taking part in the general discussion on the national budget for 2010-11 in parliament yesterday. Inu, whose JSD is an ally of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance, said the door for discussion remains open and parliament is in session where the opposition could raise their issues. He said political leadership must know the time for calling hartal. The JSD leader said economic growth can not be achieved through political unrest in a country. Calling for continuity of the government policies, he said the country cannot achieve progress by changing policies with the change of government. Citing the example of India, Inu said the political trend in India has not changed. “Policy cannot be changed with the change of the government,” he said, adding that it would not serve the nation's purpose by installing Razakars in power in the morning and freedom fighters in the afternoon. Inu, who once preached scientific socialism in 70's and 80's, called for socialist economy without interference from outside in a bid to ensure development and security of the people. The JSD leader praised the Chinese leadership of Deng Xiaoping to Hu Jintao presenting China a spectacular economy.
