'Re-fix wage structure for water transport workers'
Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation (BNSF) demanded of the government to re-fix wage structure for water transport workers keeping consistency with wage scale 2009.
In a joint statement, BNSF President Golam Mawla, Senior Vice President Mohammad Shah Alam and General Secretary Chowdhury Ashikul Alam said the new wage scale for water transport workers announced in a notification on Monday is a partial victory.
The workers were not fully satisfied with the announcement, they said. It is not possible for workers to survive without fixing the minimum wage for workers keeping in consistency with current market prices and national wage scale signed as per tri-partite agreement on March 18, they said.
