Physiotherapy students' hunger strike postponed

Bangladesh Physiotherapy Students' Union (BPSU) yesterday postponed their fast unto death after Health Minister Prof AFM Ruhal Haque had assured them of starting the process of establishing Bangladesh College of Physiotherapy within two weeks. Prof Ruhal Haque finally met the students on hunger strike at the Central Shaheed Minar at 4:00pm yesterday. On the question of dilly-dallying to set up the college even a year after laying the foundation, the minister said it was not possible due to the complexity at engineering department. He said the site, which was selected for the college, was encroached by a group of people and he asked the public works ministry, home ministry, inspector general of police and director general of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) to evict them from there to build the college. The students said they are postponing their programme but will go for self-immolation if their demand is not met.
