'Try war criminals to fulfil election pledges'

The war criminals have been hatching conspiracy by creating law and order situations at different places of the country to hinder their trial hunching they would be brought to the book immediately. The country's desired development could be achieved only after trial of the war criminals, who are still the nation's active enemies, said the leaders of different political and social organisations. They called for immediate trial of the war criminals to fulfill the election pledges of the government. They made this appeal at separate meetings held across the country. Workers Party, Barisal unit arranged a convention demanding the trial of war criminals held at District Lawyers association auditorium yesterday. Party President Rashed Khan Menon MP, attended the meeting as the chief guest while Gono Forum presidium member Pankaj Bhattacharyia and Workers Party General Secretary Anisur Rahman Mallik attended as the special guests. With district Workers Party Secretary Biswajit Baroi in the chair, the meeting addressed, among others by, Lawyers' Association former president Advocate Manobendhro, Barisal Press Club President SM Iqbal, Reporters Unit president Sushanta Gosh, and Awami League leader Syed Anisur Rahman. Kurigram district Awami League arranged a protest rally in the town demanding the trial of war criminals and against the violence of Jammat-Shibir across the country. The rally started from AL office premises of Goshpara area and after parading different roads, the rally ended at Shahid Minar Square. Local lawmaker Mohammed Jafar Ali attended as the chief guest while AL leaders Monir Hossain, Advocate Abraham Linkon, Nim Nazmul Crown, Rasheduzzaman Babu, Zila Jubo League president Aman Unddin Ahmed Manzu and Chattra League president Minhazul Islam, among others, addressed the meeting. Nilphamari Chattra League hold a discussion in the town to demanding the ban of Jamaat-e-Islami politics and the trial of the war criminals here. Local lawmaker Asaduzzaman Nur attended as the chief guest while the meeting addressed, among others by, BCL central committee president Mhamud Hassan Ripon, general secretary Mhafuzul Haider Chowdhury Rotan, joint secretary Iqbal Hossain Babul, district AL president Kamal Ahmed and general secretary Mamtazul Islam. Magura district Muktijoddha Sangsad also arranged a meeting to demanding the trial of war criminals.Commanders' Molla Nabyut Ali, ATM Mohabbat Ali, Abdul Hakim Miraz, Jahur-a-Alahi, Ali Reza Khokan and Nazrul Islam, among others, addressed the discussion.The also urged the government to ban the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami. Besides, freedom fighters of Jhalakhati, Pabna, Barguna, Laxmipur District unit of Awami League (AL), Rangpur AL, Khagrachari AL and Bangladesh University Swadhinata Teachers Parishad arranged discussions demanding the trial of war criminals. They said the present government has no scope to commit any mistake in trying the war criminals as the nation this time gave an overwhelming mandate with the hope of completing the trial to free the nation from the stigma and its enemies forever.
