Handover Jamaat trio to war crimes tribunal

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) yesterday urged the government to handover Jamaat leaders Motiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid, Moulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee to the special tribunal for war crimes, says a press release. JSD made the demand at its central committee meeting held at the party head office in the city. JSD leaders at the meeting said that despite being widely known as war criminals, the Jamaat leaders have not yet been shown arrested in this connection. Trial of the war criminals was one of the major electoral pledges of the ruling party, they added. The meeting decided to hold a discussion and rally at Muktangon in the city on July 6 and a countrywide protest on July 8 demanding handover of the arrested Jamaat leaders to the special tribunal. JSD also demanded an investigation into action of the law enforcement agencies at the residence of BNP leader Mirza Abbas during the June 27 hartal hours. Hasanul Haque Inu presided over the meeting. General Secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, lawmaker Moinuddin Khan Badal, central leaders Syed Jafar Sajjad, Shirin Akhter, Iqbal Hossain Khan and Nazmul Haque Pradhan were present at the meeting.
