Supreme Court lawyer Mamtaj Uddin Fakir was yesterday appointed additional attorney general. President Zillur Rahman made the appointment as per Article 3(2) of Bangladesh Law Officers Order 1972 for dealing with cases on behalf of the state. Now the number of additional attorneys general stands at three. A post of additional attorney general fell vacant on April 11 this year, when AKM Zahirul Haque, then additional attorney general, was appointed a High Court judge. Mamtaj Uddin Fakir was an elected secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association from 2001 to 2002.
