Make students worthy citizens

Nahid urges teachers

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday called upon the teachers to devote themselves to making the students worthy citizens to supplement the government's effort to build digital Bangladesh. "We are pledge-bound to equip the young generation with modern and technology-based power for expected development of the nation," he said while addressing a meeting of teachers, guardians and the elite at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium here in the afternoon. Terming the teachers as the vital force for building the students as competent human resources, he urged upon them to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and patriotic zeal to attain the goal. Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, spoke on the occasion as the special guests with teachers leader Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha in the chair. The minister said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formulated a national education policy incorporating all development factors of the nation and called upon the teachers to implement it successfully. Nahid said the present government has been working relentlessly to make the country's educational system pro-people, need-oriented and technology-based as it believes in establishing a disparity-free education system in the country for overall development of the country. "We have to give more importance to expediting the classroom-based education system along with prohibiting its commercialisation process," he stressed.
