Bangladesh to purchase rice, wheat from India
A three-member Bangladesh delegation reached Delhi yesterday to negotiate with the Indian officials for procurement of rice and wheat from India.
The delegation, led by Director General of the Directorate of Food Ahmed Hossain Khan, will discuss the possible purchase of 1 lakh tonnes of rice and 4 lakh tonnes of wheat, sources said.
The Bangladesh side is likely to discuss details regarding purchase of rice with the State Trading Corporation of India and the procurement of wheat with the Food Corporation of India.
The price and other details would be worked out later in Dhaka during the visit of an Indian delegation.
The delegation includes Khandaker Atiar Rahman, joint secretary, food division and Ilahi Dad Khan, director, Directorate of Food.
