CCC mayor injured in road crash

Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Manjur Alam and his chauffeur suffered minor injuries in a road accident in Comilla en route to Dhaka yesterday morning. Manjur is now safe and staying in his residence. He received treatment at a private hospital in the port city and was taken home around 12:30pm, said his son Sanowar Alam. A covered van from opposite direction hit the jeep carrying the mayor at about 6:30am. The jeep got damaged seriously and Manjur sustained injuries to the eyes, chest and legs. The other car accompanying Manjur rushed him back to Chittagong. Chauffeur Mohammad Yusuf returned to Chittagong after given treatment at a local hospital in Comilla. Manjur set off for Dhaka to meet the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia first time since his victory in June 17 CCC election.
