Matlub Anam laid to rest

Language movement veteran and columnist Matlub Anam was laid to rest at Banani graveyard in the city yesterday. Earlier, his namaz-e-janaza was held at Dhanmondi Eidgah mosque after Zohr prayers. Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira, former adviser to a caretaker government Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud, former Buet vice chancellor Prof Iqbal Mahmud, Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam, former colleagues from pharmaceuticals industries, prominent citizens, relatives and friends attended the janaza. Matlub Anam passed away at the city's Square Hospital on Wednesday. He had been suffering from cancer. Late Matlub Anam was the third son of renowned litterateur and veteran politician Abul Mansur Ahmad. His qulkhwani will be held at Masjid-e-Taqua in Dhanmondi after Asr prayers tomorrow (Saturday). Relatives, friends and well-wishers have been requested to attend the qulkhwani.
