Writ dismissed as Mainul decides not to proceed
The High Court (HC) yesterday dismissed a writ petition that challenged a government order declaring Anwar Hossain Manju printer and publisher of The Daily Ittefaq.
An HC bench of Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore came up with the order following a petition submitted by Mainul Hosein, former executive director-1 of The Ittefaq Group of Publications Limited, saying that he would not proceed with the writ petition.
Advocate Rabeya Jamali, a lawyer for Manju, told The Daily Star that her client's (Manju) post of the printer and publisher of the daily would remain upheld, as it was earlier, following the HC order.
Mainul submitted the petition to the HC on July 7 for not proceeding with his writ petition, as a compromise regarding withdrawal of all cases took place between Moinul and Manju on May 2 this year, the lawyer said.
