Shumi becomes first, Shumaiya second

The concluding ceremony of 'Meril Baby Adore Gora Bhobishshot 2009' was held at a hotel in the city on Friday with announcement of its first and second winners. At the function, Rabeya Zaman Shumi of Khulna was announced first and Shumaiya Chowdhury Orin of Chapainawabganj second winner of the competition. 'Meril Baby Adore Gora Bhobishshot 2009' initiated by Meril Baby, a brand of Square Toiletries Limited, concluded after a gala function and the award declaration at Hotel Sonargaon, said a press release. First prize winner Shumi received education insurance worth Tk 10 lakh while second prize winner Shumaiya Tk 5 lakh for their children. Theme of the contest was 'how did you feel when you became a mother for the first time'. Thousands of mothers from all over the country wrote about their feeling. Based on the merit of letters, 50 mothers were selected from each division of the country. The judges selected top 10 mothers from each division who took part in this gala round. The first and second winners were selected from 60 mothers from six divisions. Anjan Chowdhury and judges--artist Rezwana Chowdhury Bonna and Psychology department teacher of Dhaka University Shabin Islam--presented the prize to the winners. The recorded version of this programme will be broadcast on NTV at 9:10pm on Friday (July 16).
