In Sylhet, the Indian authorities yesterday afternoon returned the body of the victim, who was shot dead by the Indian Khasia tribesmen on Thursday in Lalakhal border area of Jaintpur upazila.
Jaintapur police received the body from the Indian police in presence of BDR and BSF.
Local and BDR sources said, the Indian Khasias intruded and picked up the Bangladeshi national from Lalakhal border point and shot him dead Thursday afternoon. It was the latest series of incidents that took place along the 20 kilometre border in Jaintapur and Gowainghat upazilas in Sylhet since February this year.
Sources said, Indian Khasias picked up Abdullah, 45 as he was collecting firewood from a place about 50 yards away from the border. He was son of Hayatullah of village Gourigram.
Soon after the incident, the BDR at Lalakhal border outpost lodged a protest and held a meeting with the Indian BSF at Amkona.
They asked the BSF to return the body immediately. In reply the Indian border guards said the body will be returned by police after post mortem and other formalities.
