Call to publish dictionary of 'Bangla Dialect'

Some eminent litterateurs yesterday urged the Bangla Academy authorities to publish dictionary of 'Bangla dialect' to complete the unfinished work of the country's noted educationist Dr Muhammad Shahidullah. They made the call while addressing a discussion meeting organised by the Bangla Academy to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Shahidullah at the academy seminar room yesterday, said a press release. Noted academician Prof Anisuzzaman presided over the meeting. Associate professor of Rajshahi University Dr. Sharochis Sarkar presented the keynote paper. Litterateur Selina Hossain, Prof Jinat Imtiaj Ali, among others, spoke at the function. Dr Muhammad Shahidullah not only helped enrich the Bangla language through his creative works but also raised the image of Bangalee at home and abroad.
