RMG workers' ultimatum

Leaders of the Sarbodaliya Garments-Sramik Oikya, an alliance of different workers' organisations, yesterday threatened to wage tougher movement if the government fails to announce Tk 5,000 as the minimum wage for garments workers by July 28. They made the demand at a rally at Muktangon in the city yesterday, said a press release. Other demands include ensuring rights to trade union, formulation of a democratic and effective labour law and withdrawal of cases filed against different worker leaders. The alliance President Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, Garments-Sramik Trade Union Kendra General Secretary KM Ruhul Amin and workers' leader Moshrefa Mishu spoke at the function.
