Effective JS a must for development
Says Moudud
BNP central leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed said making parliament effective is an urgent necessity for national development and making the government accountable, said a press release.
He was speaking as a guest speaker at a parliamentary style debate competition 'Youth Parliament' on ATN Bangla aired every Friday. The title of the debate was 'The movement for emancipation has not been completed yet'.
Moudud Ahmed said the country became independent in 1971 after a long struggle for freedom. But the real freedom has not yet been achieved.
He said overall development of a country could be measured by how effectively its parliament is working adding that parliament must be made effective at any cost for the interest of the people.
Director of the Youth Parliament Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron said, "We want all concerned to know that the country and nation will be benefited if the Jatiya Sangsad held issues or subject wise debates through the Youth Parliament."
SOS Hermann Gmeiner College sailed to the finals defeating Mirzapur Cadet College in the semi-finals, according to a press release.
Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron moderates the programme.
The first semi final of the competition will be aired in ATN Bangla at 11:05 on July 23.
