New CHT Land Commission soon
The caretaker government will reorganise the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Commission soon.
CHT Affairs Ministry secretary M Abdus Sabur yesterday said this while addressing as chief guest a seminar here titled, 'Possibility of Private Investment in Tourism Sector in Bandarban.'
He said a new chairman will be appointed for CHT Land Commission.
Held at the Tribal Institute auditorium, the seminar was organised by Bandarban Army Region Headquarters.
Regional Commander of 69 Brigade Brig Gen ATM Ziaul Hasna read out the keynote paper.
The secretary said the caretaker government is trying to bring about socio-economic development in the region through resolution of problems of the hill people. This is why the Advisory Council for CHT Ministry has been reactivated, he said.
The caretaker government has taken steps to find out the real problems in land management in CHT, he said.
Other speakers demanded a favourable atmosphere to attract investment in private sector. Small entrepreneurs should be given land ownership as well as loans on soft term, they said.
Prof Than Jama Lusai, chairman of Bandarban District Council, Abdul Majid Shah Akand, deputy commissioner (DC) of Bandarban, ex-parliament member (MP) Bir Bahadur Saching Prue, KS Mong, Cha Hla Prue and some private entrepreneurs addressed.
