Road crashes kill 3
At least three people, including a child, were killed in separate road accidents in Pabna, Natore and Sirajganj yesterday.
Our correspondent from Pabna reports: A girl child of class two was killed when a bus crushed her at Atghoria Bazar in the district at about 8:00am yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shorna Khatun, 8, daughter of Abdul Hamid of village Baoikola in Atghoria upazila.
A student's bus of Pabna Edward College ran over Shorna while she was crossing the road to go to her school. The driver of the bus fled the scene.
Agitated locals barricaded the Pabna-Faridpur road for an hour protesting the death. Later, police brought the situation under control.
A correspondent from Natore adds: A man was killed by a speeding bus in Tokia Dastonabad on the Natore-Rajshahi highway at around 7:45am yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Moslem Uddin alias Fokir Chand, 57, son of Sadhon Pramanik of village Amhati Shibpur of Natore.
Witnesses say Moslem was hit while crossing the road on a bike in front of the sugar mill sub-zone office where he worked as a clerk.
Superintendent of Natore Police Nuruzzaman said Moslem was taken to Natore Sadar Hospital immediately after the accident. Later, he succumbed to his injuries when on his way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
A correspondent from Sirajganj says: A truck driver was killed and his helper injured when their speeding truck crashed into a stationary truck on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Tarash upazila of the district early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, 40, of Pabna. Police sent the body to Sirajganj general hospital for autopsy.
The injured, Sharif , was admitted to Tarash Upazila Health Complex.
Police said the accident happened when an iron-rod laden truck rammed into a stationary truck loaded with cement.
