Presidency University celebrates 7th anniversary

Presidency University celebrated its seventh founding anniversary yesterday amidst much enthusiasm and festivity on its two campuses. To mark the day, the university authorities chalked out a two-day programme including rally, photo exhibition, movie show and cultural programme. Rokia Afzal Rahman, chairperson of Presidency University Foundation, inaugurated the programme by cutting the birthday cake of the university at its Gulshan campus. Speaking at the programme, Rokia said education is the first, second and third important things for students in this competitive world. She emphasised building the habit of hard work, serious studies and moral values and urged the students to continue their research and academic activities for the welfare of the country. Moazzam Hossain, vice chairman of the foundation, and Prof M Harunur Rashid, vice-chancellor of the university, also spoke at the programme. Deans and teachers of different departments and officials were present at the programme. Later, the students and teachers of the university brought out a colourful procession from the Gulshan campus around 11:30am that ended at the university's Banani campus. The university started its journey in 2003 and since then it has been continuing its efforts to develop human resources capable of leading the nation.
