Mobin Chy gets bail
The High Court (HC) yesterday granted ad-interim bail for two months to BNP Vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in a case filed in connection with torching vehicles on June 26, the day before the party's countrywide hartal.
An HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque also issued a rule upon the government to explain within four weeks as to why Shamsher Chowdhury should not be granted regular bail in the case filed with Ramna Police Station.
The HC issued the order following a petition filed by the BNP leader seeking bail.
Mobin's lawyer Khandker Mahbub Hossain told reporters that there was no bar to his client's release from prison following the HC order because Mobin was already on bail given by a lower court in another case.
