Anee's bail petitions rejected
A Dhaka court yesterday rejected BNP lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee's bail petitions in four cases filed in connection with preventing police from discharging their duty during the June 27 hartal.
Judge (in-charge) Ismail Hossain of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, passed the rejection order after Anee's lawyer submitted separate bail petitions, which were earlier rejected by a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) court.
Third Additional CMM Mohammad Ali Hussain on July 12 sent Anee to jail rejecting his bail petitions in four cases out of five while he obtained bail in the fifth.
Anee was shown arrested on June 27 in the cases filed with Shahbagh Police Station for his involvement in deterring police from their work.
Police arrested him also for violent activities in the capital's Shahbagh area during the nationwide hartal by BNP.
